Simon Gauvin

Simon Gauvin is a guitarist, composer and arranger living in Quebec. He graduated in composition and sound engineer at the Laval University in Quebec. He learned classical guitar with Isabelle Héroux, Claude Gagnon and Rémi Boucher.

He is a solist and accompanist, but he also composed numerous musical pieces for various ensembles. His work Transfusion for chamber orchestra and piano was interpreted by the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne at the Grand Théâtre de Québec. His piece Bullet Cluster for solo bass clarinet was broadcast at CKIA fm.

He also arranged pieces for guitar, including some Schubert, Beethoven and traditionnal chinese music.

Simon played guitar with the pianist Vanessa Bourque Leclerc as part of the Duo Scheikunde for ten years. He helped produce concerts for charity like the Club des Petits déjeuners and the Fondation québécoise du cancer.

He also have nearly twenty years of experience as a music teacher and he teached guitar, theory and solfeggio in multiple schools.
